Police arrived with paramedics, but the woman was later pronounced dead in hospital.
“Police located and arrested the suspect who has been transported to Surrey RCMP cells,” said Sgt. Rob Maione.
“Both parties are known to each other, and there is no risk to the public.”
A nearby neighbour, for whom Global News agreed to conceal her identity for safety reasons, said the victim was a teacher and mother to two young children who had just recently returned from a trip.
“She was a teacher, she was a nice woman,” the neighbour said.
“She didn’t talk much about her family (to us).”
